SINGAPORE – Sunny days are coming back again in early February, with the number of rainy days expected to ease in the first two weeks of the month.
Daily maximum temperatures also look set to climb from below 31 deg C on most days in end-January to between 33 deg C and 34 deg C in February, said the Meteorological Service Singapore in a statement on Jan 31. During this time, there may be fair and occasionally windy periods, it added.
There will be fewer rainy days in early February, said the Met Service, and thundery showers are expected in the afternoon on some days, though these will likely be short and localised.
Despite the January “chill” and a monsoon surge from Jan 17 to 19, Singapore recorded well below average rainfall in the second half of the month.
In the Sembawang area, rainfall was about 84 per cent below average. The 75.2mm of rainfall recorded in Sunset Way on Jan 26 – when heavy rain pelted the south and west of Singapore – was the highest for the period. Prevailing north-east monsoon conditions are forecast to continue into the first half of February, the Met Service said.
